Note from reissue producer Didier C. Deutsch: On November 28, 1958, Tony Bennett appeared in concert with the Count Basie Orchestra at the Latin Casino in Philadelphia. The concert was scheduled to be recorded but because of technical difficulties the taped performance proved unusable. As a substitute, producer Mitch Miller decided to bring together Bennett and the Basie Orchestra into the CBS 30th Street Studios for a repeat of that concert that was recorded under optimum conditions. To make believe, however, that this was the "live" recording that had been initially planned, it was decided to overlay the recording with applause.
