I know according to all the articles online this was supposed to have been recorded this past April. Does anyone know if it ever was recorded and when it will be released if it was?

It was definitely recorded, and the song Let it Burn was released as a teaser

However it doesn't seem likely that we'll be hearing the rest any time soon due to money troubles:
