- Friday Night Is Music Night - tenor Alfie Boe joins the BBC Concert Orchestra for this special edition of the show. Alfie adds an Italian flavour to the Friday Night mix with songs including Mambo Italiano, Volare and Buona Sera.
Alfie's fine tenor voice was spotted by a businessman when he was working as a mechanic at the TVR factory in Bispham. Friday Night guests Collabro shot to fame by winning the ITV show - Britain's Got Talent. Collabro are Michael Auger, Richard Hadfield, Jamie Lambert, Matthew Pagan and Thomas J Redgrave. This boy band with a difference specialize in singing musical theatre rather than pop songs. Following their victory by public vote on BGT their first CD debuted at number one in the album charts and tonight they are joined by the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by John Rigby in songs from Chess, Les Miserables and Frozen.
Final guest Matilda Lloyd is also no stranger to competitions - she is the winner of the Radio 2 Young Brass Soloist 2014. She has a host of competition prizes to her credit as well as being the current Principal Trumpet with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Tonight she will play the finale of the Hummel Trumpet Concerto in E flat and Stanley Black's arrangement for trumpet and orchestra of People from Funny Girl by Jule Styne. - Recording venue
