West Side Story - 1961 London Studio Cast

Are we sure all these recordings are the same? I believe the CD releases carry another completely different recording form the LPs with the credited cast (Chakiris, Trent & Graham). Can anyone confirm it?

The Sondheim Reference Guide seems to list many releases as being the same recording as the original Forum LP issue.

yes, but that could be the origin of the possible mistake; at least one of the recordings listed -Compact Disc, ???? [The Collection OP0007] (as by "The London Theatre Orchestra and Singers"- has nothing to do with the 1963 London Studio recording, and I really have doubts about the others

I have doubts about the others as well but I have only the Forum LP and the Spectrum CD so I can't compare the others.

I have uploaded two versions of "Tonight":
- Society Records (SOC 923). West Side Story with George Chakiris, Bruce Trent, Lucille Graham & the West Side story Orchestra http://www.sendspace.com/file/rra0rt
- The Collection (OP0007). London Theatre Orchestra & Singers http://www.sendspace.com/file/wyh6b0

The recording of "Tonight" on the Society Records (SOC 923) track is the same as the Showtunes (SHO19242) CD. The recording on The Collection (OP0007) is the Original Broadway Cast recording with Carol Lawrence and Larry Kert!

That's true! Those uncredited releases are always a pain! Let's hope we'll be able to curate all the recordings. Thanks for the help
