WeillPremiered simultaneously at the Altes Theater, Leipzig, the Stadttheater, Erfurt and the Stadttheater, Magdeburg. Weill did not think of this as an opera, according to the album's program notes. Rather it is a synthesis of Musical and Opera. Nine days after the original show's German premiere the Reichstag was burned.ShortlyShortly thereafter an edict closed all performances of Der Silbersee and banned all future productions of Weill's work in Germany.- Music
