Edith Piaf - The Musical - 1999 Dutch Cast Recording

This is de only dutch cast recording of Piaf: http://www.castalbums.org/recordings/1540

There is one other cd associated with the first Dutch version of Piaf. But that's a cd with the songs from the show in the original versions by Piaf herself and features no one from the cast. It has a very ugly cover with a dress on a hanger.

This is not the Pam Gems play, but an original musical with book by Albert Verlinde.

Actually, the booklet for the Liesbeth List cast recording notes "Een theaterstuk van Pam Gems" or "A play by Pam Gems" and was presented by V&V Entertainment. Albert Verlinde is one of the producers who, along with Roel Vente, founded V&V (which later merged with Stage Entertainment).

If one looks closely at the the List cover the "ugly" logo of the dress on a hangar with a bird is there and was previously used as the full cover art for the compilation of original Piaf recordings made from 1954 to 1962.

The musical premiered on October 11, 1999 in the Koninklijke Schouwburg in The Hague and the cast recording was released in 2000 (and re-released in 2006). The compilation recording was released in 1999 to promote the show and marketed with stickers noting: "Alle Liedjes uit de Musical gezongen door Edith Piaf (All songs from the musical sang by Edith Piaf) + 9 Bonus Tracks."

Thanks for raising these questions. I have updated the database appropriately.
