Carolee Carmello and Company record SCANDALOUS


Carolee Carmello, who starred in the recent Broadway production of Scandalous, tweeted a photo of herself yesterday in a recording studio, announcing an upcoming cast recording of the musical. Neither a label nor release date have been announced.


Ghostlight to record GIANT

This January, the off-Broadway cast of GIANT heads into the studio to preserve the show on record.

The Michael John LaChiusa musical, a sizeable undertaking for the Public Theatre, features 26 actors and a 17-piece orchestra. Kurt Deutsch and Joel Moss will produce the recording for a spring release on Ghostlight Records.

This will be Ghostlight's fifth recording of LaChiusa's work (Queen of the Mist, See What I Wanna See, Bernarda Alba, and Little Fish) and fourth of a Public Theatre production (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Hair, and See What I Wanna See).


Yellow Sound Label to record MURDER BALLAD

Yellow Sound Label has announced a cast recording of Manhattan Theatre Club's New York premiere of Murder Ballad.

A rock musical about a love triangle gone wrong, the production features John Ellison Conlee, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Karen Olivo, & Will Swenson.

A release date has not yet been announced.


DRG to record MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD revival

The cast of Roundabout Theatre's Broadway revival of The Mystery of Edwin Drood will head to KAS Studios in Astoria on December 10 to record a 2-CD cast album.

The recording will include songs not on the original cast album, including "Jasper's Vision/Smoke Ballet," a revised version of "Ceylon" (which now incorporates "A British Subject"), and the cut song "An English Music Hall," which now starts the 2nd act. The recording will also include all 8 versions of the "Murder's Confession."

Writer/Composer/Lyricist Rupert Holmes re-orchestrated the show for a 19-piece pit and will provide liner notes detailing the new material & revisions. Hugh Fordin will produce the recording for a January 19 release on DRG Records.


PS Classics to record NOËL & COLE, updates on other albums

PS Classics has announced an upcoming album featuring the music of Cole Porter and Noël Coward.

Based on Music Director David Loud's November 2011 concert Broadway Close Up: Noel & Cole in Love, the recording will feature Philip Chaffin, Sara Jean Ford, Euan Morton, Matthew Scott, Elizabeth Stanley, and Barbara Walsh. Producer Tommy Krasker plans a January 19, 2013 release.

Due to Hurricane Sandy, the store date for both albums has been delayed to December 11 (website sales will start shipping November 26). PS Classics will donate 25% of their profits from those & other albums during the holiday season to the Red Cross, to assist with the Hurricane Sandy recovery.
