First Listen: HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH

Due to overwhelming demand, the original Broadway cast recording of HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH has moved up its digital release date to June 12 (CDs will hit stores on July 15).

The production just won 4 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical, acting awards for stars Neil Patrick Harris & Lena Hall, and best lighting.


LADY DAY & HEDWIG announce cast albums

Lady Day At Emerson's Bar and Grill, staring Audra McDonald, will be recorded live in performance during the week of May 27 - 31. Produced by Tommy Krasker for PS Classics, the 2-disc recording will be released on July 15.

Composer Stephen Trask will produce the new Broadway cast recording of Hedwig & the Angry Inch, starring Neil Patrick Harris. Atlantic Records, which also released the original cast recording & film soundtrack, will make the recording available digitally on July 1, before hitting stores on July 15.


Preview tracks from LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST

Sh-K-Boom Records has posted 2 preview clips from their upcoming original cast recording of Love's Labour's Lost.

The production premiered as part of The Public Theatre's 2013 summer Shakespeare in the Park season. The album will be available digitally on June 3 and on CD July 8. Directed by Alex Timbers, Love's Labour's Lost's score features songs by Michael Friedman with book adaptation by Timbers.

The physical CD will feature a deluxe jewel case package containing a full-color 38-page booklet with lyrics, photos, a show synopsis, notes from renowned writer Mark Harris (Entertainment Weekly, Grantland) and The Public Theater’s artistic director Oskar Eustis, an essay from Columbia University Professor James Shapiro, and an essay by Hilton Als that originally appeared in The New Yorker.




Stage Door Records to release ANDY CAPP on CD

Stage Door Records continues its reissues of out-of-print London cast recordings this March with Andy Capp.

Based on the comic strip, Andy Capp opened in June 1982 at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre and later transferred to London's Aldwych Theatre in September 1982 where it ran for 120 performances.

The recording makes its debut on CD and has been digitally remastered from the original master tapes.

Exclusive charity release of UK's THE LAST SESSION

John Yap of Jay Records has provided an exclusive highlights release of the 2012 UK Cast recording of THE LAST SESSION to a UK charity. The CD-R, which includes a full-color booklet, will be released Dec 2 and can be ordered here.

All profits from the sale of this CD-R will go to The Make A Difference Trust, which brings together the British Entertainment community and its audiences to raise funds to support people living with HIV and AIDS, and those in the entertainment industry facing hardship as a result of a long-term medical condition.

A commercial release of the full recording is expected sometime in 2014.
